Bury Hospice And Abbey Announce Partnership

At Abbey, we are excited to announce that we have recently partnered with Bury Hospice.

As a family business, we know how vital end of life care is. We’re proud to support the hospice and their work. This piece explains why the partnership matters, the shared values we hold, and how we’re getting involved.

Why Bury Hospice Matters

Since 1991, Bury Hospice has supported the local community by providing specialist palliative and end-of-life care. Their inpatient unit, outpatient clinics, and outreach team offer practical help and compassionate support for patients and their families.

Running these services costs £4 million each year. Just 13% of that comes from NHS funding, with the rest raised through fundraising, retail shops, and a lottery.

The hospice includes purpose-built single rooms with en-suite bathrooms and garden views. Patients personalise their rooms, and even pets can visit.

The Living Well Centre hosts clinics in partnership with The Christie and Salford Royal Hospital. The hospice also delivers care in people’s homes and runs bereavement services, including cafés, walking groups, and the Sunflower Group for children. Every service centres on dignity, care, and community.

What Bury Hospice Means to Abbey

At Abbey, our values guide the way we do business. Family, community, loyalty and partnership are central to how we support the people around us every day. Supporting Bury Hospice is one way we can give back to the town we have proudly called home since 1985.

Being based in Bury means we see first-hand the impact the hospice has on local families. Their work is both essential and deeply personal, providing expert care at a time when it is needed most. We believe that everyone deserves dignity, compassion and proper support at the end of life, and Bury Hospice delivers exactly that.

Our partnership with them feels natural. Like us, they are committed to helping others, building strong relationships and putting people first. These shared values are the foundation of our support.

We’re proud to announce our partnership with Bury Hospice, a local charity providing compassionate care for individuals and families across our community. Their work makes a meaningful difference, and we’re honoured to play a part in helping them continue their vital efforts. Together, we hope to raise awareness and contribute to the incredible support they offer every day.

How Abbey Is Going To Help

To kicks things off, several Abbey team members will be taking part in the Bury Hospice Memory Walk 2025. This sponsored walk takes place on Saturday, 16 August at Burrs Country Park and brings people together to remember loved ones while raising money for hospice care.

This is a simple way for us to show support and help raise vital funds for Bury Hospice. Every step counts towards making a difference.

If you’d like to support our team and contribute to the cause, you can donate through our fundraising page. Or, If you’d like to learn more about Abbey, visit our About Us page or contact the team directly.

Over 100 people have signed up to take part in this year’s Memory Walk around the stunning grounds of Burrs Country Park and the surrounding area. It is fantastic to have the support from local businesses, including a team from Abbey. Every donation makes a real difference and contributes to care the hospice provides.
