Supporting Waxman Group to Achieve New Standards of H&S Compliance and Efficiency

Based in West Yorkshire, Waxman Group is a third-generation family business with over 50 years in the distribution industry. It is one of the leading global suppliers of flame-retardant fibres used primarily in protective clothing.

Challenge

Waxman Group needed a telematics solution that could be deployed across a mixed fleet of equipment from different manufacturers and across multiple sites. The system had to support site-specific portal access, identify operators, restrict usage to trained staff only, digitise pre-operational checks, and provide detailed reporting on both fleet utilisation and impacts. A previous version of Abbey’s IQ360 system had already been installed on a smaller number of trucks, creating an opportunity to expand the solution more widely.

Solution

Abbey upgraded the original six trucks already fitted with IQ360 and installed the updated system across a further nineteen vehicles within the wider Waxman fleet. The solution was configured to support operator identification, training-based access control, paperless checks, and real-time operational reporting. By tailoring the portal to suit Waxman’s requirements at site level, Abbey delivered a scalable telematics system that could improve visibility, control, and consistency across the business.

Result

The new system gave Waxman greater control over fleet operations while helping raise standards of health and safety compliance and day-to-day efficiency. Drivers could only access equipment they were trained to use, pre-operational checks became paperless, and key operational data became instantly visible through the portal. Real-time alerts and reporting also provided clearer oversight of vehicle status, driver performance, impacts, and failed checks, giving the fleet manager better information to act on.
