Consent Valve

A consent valve introduces a simple but effective safeguard by requiring the operator to activate a secondary control, typically a switch or pedal, while using the attachment. This ensures that every movement is intentional, improving safety without slowing down normal handling tasks.

Abbey has also developed tailored consent valve solutions to meet specific customer requirements. In one application, a consent valve was integrated into the forklift’s hydraulic system alongside a foot pedal control. This allowed the attachment to close as normal, but prevented the load from being released unless the operator actively pressed the foot pedal. This additional step ensured that loads could not be dropped accidentally, providing a higher level of safety in a critical handling operation.
